Corpo in Tempesta
Waves represent characteristics of duality–calm yet powerful.

My love of art began way before I started school.
Whether hand-drawing, painting, or (lately) using my iPad, I love creating visuals from an array of inspirations.
I discovered printmaking in 2010, and fell in love with the creativity of the process. Whether it's woodcut, etching, or silkscreen, printmaking is an immersive art.
Corpo in Tempesta was a student project, where the goal was to create a series that reflected ourself in some way. As an artist and designer that immerses himself in each project, this process became an intimate one.

Although calm on the surface, I’m a passionate individual. Growing up in San Diego, a lot of who I am comes from this great city near the water. My powerful personality and love for this city are portrayed with a heart, an eye, and lungs, all made from waves.
The series was inspired by a drawing titled "Restless Ocean Heart". I expanded the design to also include lungs and an eye, to further develop the emotional tone of the metaphor.

I screen-printed all three designs on clothing and acid-free, buffered paper

Not every print came out perfectly registered, but in the end I really liked the result of the misprints.

This series also reminds me of a quote by Atmosphere that says, “Roam if you must, but come home when you’ve seen enough.”
