Del Mar x Del Mar
A design focused on shared experiences and values.

In September 2020, my girlfriend and I planned a camping trip to Big Sur. But just one week before our trip, massive wildfires engulfed California’s forests, and we canceled our trip.
We had a staycation instead and thought of new ways to spend our weekend. One of the ideas we had was to create something that reflected our relationship and our shared values.

We considered the role COVID-19 plays in our relationship, and reflected on social justice issues during a pandemic. We also wanted to highlight positivity.
We blended Papel Picado and bandana-style designs, both of which reflect elements of San Diego, where we grew up.
We also included activities we enjoy, inside jokes, and values in which we strongly believe.
Fun fact: even though we’re from different cities in San Diego county, we both lived on Del Mar Avenue. We decided that would be the “seal” for our design.

My girlfriend got this awesome mustard-colored crop top.
My shirt is more of a cream color.
We kept pretty busy during our staycation, and our shirt design was only one activity. I have planned to come back to this design to polish it, but overall we were super happy to wear our shirts and spread our message.

ALL BLACK LIVES MATTER. MIGRATION IS A HUMAN RIGHT.
